INFORMATION
DAVID TREMLETT, ROSSA, SWITZERLAND
The Anglo-Swiss artist David Tremlett was invited by architect David Macullo, to transform the exterior façades
of three historic religious buildings in the village of Rossa through colourful, geometric interventions.
These are site-specific works integrated into the historic architecture (17th century), combining shapes and bands of
colour into two-dimensional compositions applied directly onto the stone, creating the effect of coloured sculpture.
David Tremlett conceives his interventions in Rossa as a dialogue between contemporary art, sacred architecture, and
the Alpine landscape. By applying simple geometric forms and matte colours directly onto the façades, he does not seek
to illustrate the religious, but rather to reveal the structure of the buildings and their presence in space. Colour functions
as a means of visual meditation, inviting contemplation rather than narration.
